Yesterday renowned Graphic Designer , Shri Binoy Sarkar passed away. But he left with his unlimited creations, for this world which would inspire the upcoming and promising graphic designers for many years. Sri Sarkar is an alumni of Yale university, USA and was associated with the National Institute of Design for many years. Later on he joined the Handicrafts and Handloom Export Corporation of India and contributed significantly to a large number of projects and exhibitions all over the world. Shri Sarkar has also to his credit designing of such striking logos as of the Indian Airlines, ECIL, Airports Authority of India, Trade Fair Authority of India (Now the ITPO) , Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to name a few. His has left her wife Mira Sarakar, who is also a renowned artist and working at American Embassy as a teacher. Binoy Sarkar is no more, but his Legacy will continue to shape the design Industry. Yesterday Calcutta has witnessed another eventful day. The son of its soil, the chess prodigy Grandmaster Surya Shekar Ganguly arranged a grand wedding reception at City Centre Hall.Many eminent personalities, media people gathered at the city centre hall to wish him happily ever after with Sudeshna, who is pursuing a PhD in nanoscience. Among the invitees were Railways minister Mamata Banerjee , Kolkata Commissioner of Police Gautam Mohan Chakraborty, World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand , Grandmaster Dibyendyu Barual, Deep Sengupta, Sports personality PK Bannerjee and many others. I have the opportunity to watch the event closely, being his relative and I took some of the snaps, which i hope would be liked by everyone.
